We had a nice Christmas with Martha - much better than last year. (The Holidays from Hell). No condemned trailers to clean out...
Catching up on little errands today and doing more sewing. Also enjoying reading some books.

Thing #9, Fitting 23 Things into the Christmas Holiday Rush
Tagging, Delicious, bookmarking, visiting relatives staying in my computer room, shopping, library parties, starting a new job, bad headcold -- where does one start to contemplate all the things that need to be done?
I've carved out a few moments to esplore social tagging (thought that was something graffitti artists did) and bookmarking, most specifically, Delicious.
I've used the favorites toolbar on my Explorer for many years, now and have felt the annoyance when using another computer and thinking, "Just what was that website I liked so much?" I think having a favorites option on any computer would be great and after signing up for Delicious and finally figuring out how to update my toolbar, I can see that it would be handy to have...if I just remember my passords and log-ons. I just might use it in the future.
I've explored several tags and what pops up: books and reading, DIYweddings, Aprons, and other eclectic offerings.
Just what tags would I put on the "23 Things" Blog? Probably: Brevard, Libraries, Librarians, 23Things, Web2.0, Facebook, Twitter, FlickR, Blogs, WebMail, (I haven't looked ahead to see what some of the other 23 things are).
How could it be used in libraries? As the other libraries have used it - on our local sites we could have a sidebar that features sites we find the most helpful when answering patron's questions. As I have jsut begun as a Reference Librarian, these will probably become more obvious to me with time. I can see that as a book club facilitator we could add various sites on book clubs, book review sites and author sites. We could also add websites about the area the book is about.
I never knew this type of tool was available and see how it could be helpful if you just remember to use it.

A day Off
Wow! It's hard keeping up with all this media.
Good news at work yesterday, my new job at Cocoa Beach Library as an official Reference Librarian begins on December 13. My wrists thank you for carpal tunnel relief!

Thing#7
I have accounts on all three social networking sites. I have just joined Web Junction and the courses offered on this site look interesting.
I joined Linkedin when I was first looking for a job two years ago, but got a job before really filling out my profile and using the site.
I use Facebook every day - maybe more than once a day. It's a great way to find old friends and realtives. I connect with three cousins I haven't seen in at least 20 years, my niece who now lives in England, my two daughters in Massachusets and California, friends from my present job and church and friends from all over the world. I even found several of the girls who had been in my Girl Scout Troop when we lived in Germany in the late 90's.
I first joined Facebook when my daughter eloped in Massachusetts in 2007. She posted her wedding photos on the site and I thought I had to join to see them. (I didn't.) She posted the info on the site before calling us, so our niece in New York told her parents in California before we could even call them! Since that time I've become addicted and enjoy finding out about my friends every day.
